hV/L eq- i < و۱۷
L= length of chamber
V= horizontal velocity of carrier gas
Vs= settling velocity of particulates
h= height through which particulates
travel before settling down
صفحه 6:
By stokes law
Vs= g(p,- p)D?/18p (ii) eq- ii
D= diameter of particle
g= acceleration due to gravity
p,= density of particle
p = density of gas
p= viscosity of gas
صفحه 7:
From eq- i and ii
D= [18Vhp/ Lg (p,- p)1"”
D = is minimum size of particle that
can be removed in a settling
chamber
صفحه 8:
Advantages
0 Low initial cost.
0 Easy to design.
0 Low pressure drop.
o Low maintenance cost.
o Dry and continuous disposal of solid
particulates.
Disadvantages
o Require large space.
0 Less collection efficiency.
0 Only larger size particles can be
collected.
صفحه 9:
Application
۵ Industrial application is limited.
0 Used widely for removal of large solid
particulates from draft furnace, kilns.
o Sometimes used in process industry,
food and metallurgical industry.
0 Used as pre-cleaners for high efficiency
collectors.
o Require simple maintenance
